Opposite Action

Change emotions by acting opposite to their urge

Every emotion comes with an action urge — what it wants you to do. Acting opposite to that urge, when the emotion doesn't fit the facts, changes the emotion itself.

Common opposites: Fear → approach gradually. Anger → be gentle and kind. Shame → share with a safe person. Sadness → get active and engage.
